Redundancy is the key.
Pick up a used synology, or make your own "redundant setup" if you have the hardware lying around.
An off the shelf product is just "easier", but either way you want a mirrored pair of drives. That will be
good enough. Short of an act of god, your data will most likely be fine. Lets call it 98%, because there
is always that scenario in which your going to "lose" customer data somehow.
