The prices of Microsoft Office 2010 have shot up significantly.

Where are the deals? Even Amazon.com has extremely high prices now.
There is no price room to resell.

Buying Office 2013 is not an alternative for all of my customers.

The answer is Google Apps.

Is there a reason that your customers don't want Office 2013?

Example:
Existing Cell Center Contract that might expand. Method of Training is complete and software choice has already been decided for the remainder of the contract.

Wow, they are high...

I still have a decent price through a couple vendors - Home and Business (assuming you want Outlook) PKC ~$165. PKC ok? I assume you'll be installing, so you shouldn't need the CD.

Ebay prices seem to be pretty decent. But still outrageous honestly.

I think Microsoft would be far better off lowering the prices. I think maybe people who "acquire" the software either without paying or misusing the license would be far more inclined to do so if it wasn't $150+ dollars for office. I honestly don't see how the office suite should cost more then windows itself did.

It would be nice to start seeing large scale adoption of open office especially for those who need the functionality of office but cannot afford it. I know for sure this is probably the case at the highschool/gradeschool level.

Family of five or six or seven has a few kids in school and of course these days most computer assignments must be typed or otherwise done on the computer. It would probably be impossible to get through highschool/middleschool without at the very least access to a computer with the office suite.

I completely agree! It always sucks when I'm quoting out a computer to a budget customer, then find out they don't have Office and it's 1/4 the price of the computer... It can be a deal killer sometime. I find myself recommending LibreOffice and Thunderbird to people who don't NEED Office.

The real killer is if they need Access for anything - Pro is OUCH expensive...

I noticed the price increases as well. We've been buying the digital download from Amazon for our clients. Cheaper and you don't have to wait for the stupid key card. I think the reason is Office 365 and 2013. They want customers to signup for the monthly service rather than purchasing outright. Once a customer gets on the monthly service it will be hard for them to purchase it later as it will feel like money flushed down the toilet. OEM pricing seems to have disappeared with 2013. We were getting 2010 OEM for $285. 2013 Pro is $399. It's hard to sell that to my clients who have money to spend let alone the ones who are on a very tight budget.

I install 12 LibreOffice to one of my customer last month, if it was not for their accounting software and blasting software ( they are a rock blasting company) I will switch them to Linux too. Many peoples in office write simple letters with Word and make very simple spreedsheet, they don't need MS Office for that.
