Where Do You Purchase Windows 7?

I was looking at my local retailer's website and I can get W7 Home Premium upgrade for $120 and the full version for $200. I don't like paying retail, but Amazon and NewEgg only have them like $10 less. Not counting the OEM system builder version, what reliable places do you tend to get Windows 7 for clients?

Here is the US you can check-out student software discounts at Microsoft's website: http://www.microsoft.com/student/en/us/office/default.aspx
Office was available sometime back for 1/2 the current price on their website.

The only 'good-deals' on the software will probably be pirated software. Microsoft is not being discounted nor is it 'on-sale'.

eBay is full of non-legit or reused licenses that aren't legal.

If I am buying for a client, I wouldn't risk it.

A Windows Anytime Upgrade isn't what I'm looking for as it implies you already have Windows 7 (Basic in this case) installed.

However this is a few bucks less than retail and as long as shipping is good that might work.

I wanted to stay away from OEM licenses as things get sticky based on the reading I've done about it.

An OEM license may be used if you include a new pc of ram or a new HD, according to my MS Representative. So $92 for an OEM for the basic 7 home product.

If it turns into a big PITA, or they are in a hurry, I have asked clients to just pickup what they want at Wal-Mart and I will install it for them.

Technically, as long as it is unopened, they do not have to purchase the trivial piece of hardware.

lol This is exactly why I was looking for the regular retail units. The licensing is a nightmare with OEM versions and apparently some things changed from XP to Vista to 7 when it came to OEM licensing. OEM versions don't help with upgrades too, only new installs.

I just ended up biting the bullet and purchasing it retail so I could get the job done and passed the cost onto the client.
