there are poeple that pay for these. They tale them apart. A guy from like 400 miles away comes into my area every 3 or 4 months. He calls me up and picked up all my scraps. Its only like $100.00 but its better than nothing.
Yep. It's not so much the innards but the circuit boards screwed onto the exterior. They can be valuable but it is HIGHLY dependable on the model and manufacturer. Some boards don't like being swapped.
I've sold hundreds of dead drives on eBay. Make sure you make the listing visible to Worldwide buyers and you'll sell them in no time. Not sure what they do with them but one customer had two orders of 150 dead drives... mix of 2.5 and 3.5
