All freaking day long, hey I came into the office today and turned my computer on and it says its upgrading to windows 10 and its stuck at X%

I've been on the phone 15 times all day explaining to people why they are doing it how they probably did it on accident and no don't turn the computer off in the middle of the upgrade.

M$ HAS COSTED ME MY WHOLE DAY ON THE FLIPPING PHONE

Why in gods name did they decide this was a good idea!?!?

I sure am glad I don't have that problem with either my home or shop computers. At work I have the GWX? control panel installed and at home I turned off auto-updates. I just update it manually.

I'm sure that there are many among you who don't agree with me, that this is the way I do it. No WinBlow$ 10 for me! If something changes I'll be going straight to Linux - PERIOD!

LOL!!! Yep, today was one of those days for Macro$haft to spread the malware. Got two calls first thing from customers, fortunately the roll back worked for them.

Indubidubly, our residential support got slammed with those today too. We had already disabled the Win 10 upgrade patch for our business clients via our patch management so no **** shows there. MS is trying to dump it on everyone's PC before the offer ends.

My mothers home machine did this the day before yesterday, or maybe yesterday?

At any rate, she hasn't had any trouble and the upgrade process itself was my biggest
worry. I figure if the update process itself went alright, and she isn't experiencing issues,
then what the heck is the difference.

It's on the latest version of the OS and I didn't have to touch it, and I don't have to fix
anything on it. I'll be going over it here in the next day or two to make sure antivirus still
works properly and that the system performs without any weird glitches.

I wonder how many computers at my first job upgraded to win 10! I guess I might be
busy next week rolling machines back.

My new computer had some sticky updates and driver issues when I got it rolling. I actually had a tech friend remote in and do a Windows 10 tune up for me. I hate to admit that, but he rocked it and now I'm referring clients to him for the "windows 10 tune up". He will send me all his Outlook calls. Win. lol

I still get "windows updates" reminders every hour, I actually am blind to them now.

I have had GWX Control panel on pretty much every computer I have serviced lately. No calls yet.
At our shop for retail equipment we do NOT install GWXControl Panel on anything. Only our shop / office machines for those who wish to stay with Windows 7. Now on repairs where Windows 10 is / was concerned, we install and setup GWX as part of the repair - oh and adding the restore software as well.

Do you check/get permission from customers first? Most of my customers realize that sooner or later they'll have to be on 10, so they just let it happen.

Yes I have. Most of those clients are medical offices that have software that will NOT work on Windows 7. Upgrading to Windows 10 would be a disaster to the software they use. Home clients I have given them an option and they wanted to stick with Windows 7. Those that were on 8.1 have upgraded for the most part.

Even though we are rather small company, most of my clients want Windows 10. I use it and I have seen no problems. I get a few complaints as far as creating personal cd's and dvd's.
