No I'm not talking about Portable stuff on our USB stick , that topic has been done to death; nor am I talking about what we carry in our CD cases when we go on site......


What I am talking about is..

On our My PC in our Office/Home etc..

Other than your O/S what you got on there..

I upgraded my HDD and rather than upload my image to it I thought I'd do a full manual Install. just don't ask why..

well im board now and wondered what each of my fellow Techs have on their Main PC's

Either you've been drinking all day or really need to make a friend or something.

Unless you are more specific, I think this is kind of weird.

Why have you got half the stuff listed on your OFFICE PC?

Mine has Win7, Office Accounting, VMware and Eset 32 AV and that basically it

I have a separate box (Cheap EVO 51s SFF, 2.4GHx 1GB RAM ) that I do my 'fixes' on. It also has Eset and VMWare on and most of yours but in a VM environment. I can then download what I want, add drives in a sandboxed area to my hearts content. this way if it goes pear shaped, my main business pc ok and my test pc I can revert to a snapshot.

Just my setup that works for me.

I'm the same way most of my real work is done in VM's. My main business system has multiple VM's running all the time. I have a win2k3 webserver for my website, an XP sandbox for virus testing, a windows 7 sandbox for the same, and a clean XP load for creating ubcd4win and other things windows related. This all runs on a *nix host.
 
I'm running Win7 with two virtual box images xp images. One of the images is for testing purposes, the other is for Quickboox Pro 2006 b/c it won't install on Windows 7 and I don't want to have to buy a new QB right now. I'm also running gimpshop, paint.net, komposer, OpenOffice, and a bunch of smaller programs. Chrome is my primary browser, although occasionally I have to run IE. I'm thinking of running a virtual box installation of either Ubuntu or Mint. Not sure why though other than to play with it. I was almost ready to dump windows since pretty much everything I needed was on linux, but Windows 7 kept me from ditching Windows. Anyways, I would like to learn more about linux in the event that I get a customer that has it installed. I'd also like to set up a linux file server but I'd like to learn some more linux first.
