what software do you use for computer repair?

I think on the site, Bryce has mentioned a few and reviewed them, the forum is not the only place to find answers. And ya there is a few posts actually going over the process a few techs here use to remove stuff and the tools they use.

for example

The search feature on these kinda of forums suck unless people use tags it makes it super easy.

Scanners:
combofix for now as long as its not 64bit (removal, file changes and logs)
me (find the process and remove it to regain control and run the other programs)
In the end AVG (paid edition with rootkit detection, final sweep)

Tools for removal:
Autoruns (to hunt down startups and verify files integrity, logs)
hijackthis (startups and delete on reboots, logs)
tcpview (see hidden connections taking place and what is starting them)
processmon (to see the path to running process and processes hidden from taskmgr)
windbg (if the infection is causing bsod events)

trend housecall is a good online scanner, just download the scanner in your IE and then edit the scan settings to do a full system scan... Quick and easy.

housecall.trendmicro.com

Another, scan your computer with hijackthis and upload the log to the analyzer website for reviews on processses and files running on your computer... Also owned by Trend.

Yup. When they offer the bulk packages, I almost feel like I'm stealing them. One, I think, was 10 for $99 so it came out to ~$7.50 each after coupon.
Reselling for $35 makes a nice profit. (MSRP = $39.90)
