I have never bought refurbished Dells but I was looking at the optiplex systems in the Dell outlet and they seem like really good deals.

But then again their refurbished and I feel like they might have had some guy just switch out a bunch of stuff for no reason.

I'm asking because the company I'm working with simply works a lot with making PDFs and and word documents. Their LOB software is very basic and doesn't require much horse power. I'm thinking what would require a lot of horsepower would probably be the new office 2013. I think even a dell optiplex 3020 for $529 would be more then enough.

How has peoples experience been with refurbished systems from Dell are they good or should I just go with the new 3020?

Should not be a problem as long as you stick to the Optiplex and Latitudes. I've heard people that have bought a lot of refurbs, like new, and scratch and dent models are better than new. because they have been given the once-over twice.

I always look for refurbs from dell. They run solid, as has been said. Last set I bought was 6 optiplex 3030s. Zero complaints.

We bought dell refurbs all the time at my last job. I don't think anyone knew until I told them.

We went to the dell outlet, and normally you can throw on a coupon for really good savings. Also, if you buy a LCD monitor, it gets the same warranty for only $100 more, which is crazy!

Thanks a lot guys I will look out for some good refurb deals.

I usually buy Dell optiplex systems I just never bought refurb ones which is why I was curious about others experience with these systems.

I have bought off the dell outlet many times and have never had a problem with them. I actually think that they go through a more complete check than the new ones. From what I understand there are mostly two kinds of units there. First are the ones that are overbought on an installation. A while ago I did a deployment of 22 desktops and 12 laptops, we purchased 23 and 13 just for good measure and returned the two extra. I understand that once the box is opened and returned it goes to the outlet. Also any DOA's go to refurb and to the outlet. They are certainly not doing any repairs on these units, only parts swaps.

I have bought off the Dell Outlet a couple times, some for personal and others for clients. Had zero problems with their stuff. Looks brand new most of the time. I like the Optiplex. Solid models.
