Hello all,
I need a sales forecast and I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to provide me with their sales forecast or preferably an estimate for a new startup sales forecast.

This would help a lot.

Thanks,
Luke

Richmond, How long have you been established? how many employees do you have? and roughly how many customers does it take to be making that kind of $$ if you don't mind me asking.

I think he meant ... its impossible for us to forecast your sales without knowing your market, pricing, customer base etc etc ...

What I think richmond means is ...

I made the assumption you would post your customer numbers and sales figures etc. I didnt think I would need to.. how am I supposed to know.

Can you give me an estimate for your first year of business.

not to be rude but i dont think many people are going to give up that information. i know i woouldnt. If you give us the numbers you have it would be easier to point you in the right direction.

*sigh*

I don't think you're going to find anyone here that's going to share their P&L statement with you. Even if I did share my sales numbers with you, that doesn't help you because our locations, customer mix, service offerings, experience, etc are different.

What YOU need to do is to first start with how much in sales YOU need to do in a month to pay for all of YOUR personal expenses, business expenses, taxes, etc. Once YOU have that monthly sales number, YOU can break that down to weekly sales. Going by YOUR average sale amount, YOU can figure out how many customers YOU need in a week to hit YOUR sales goal. Once YOU have the number of paying customers YOU need in a week to hit YOUR sales goal, you can then look at YOUR 8-10 strategies to bring in those customers and see which ones are actually bringing in customers and which ones need to be tweaked or eliminated.

thanks for the information. I needed information based on the rest of the industry etc. I will take your advice and work it out based on that.

Thanks.

That's where you're wrong. You don't need information based on the rest of the industry because the industry has so many variables it doesn't offer any benefit to you. The person who does computer repair at night and on weekends and only needs $500/month in sales because they have a 9-5 job doesn't help you with your numbers. The person who has five locations and needs 50k per month to pay their staff, expenses, etc doesn't help you with your numbers.

By the lack of replies to this thread from the community, the fatal flaw in your post was the original crappy question which is why I threw out a crappy answer. How about if I ask you a few questions. Why are you even looking for a sales forecast (are you looking to get bank financing, are you just starting out, are you wanting to start out but haven't made the jump yet)? Do you offer onsite, remote, or in-shop services (or a mix of the three)?

Let's get to the root cause for the initial question and see if we can get some good replies from it.

Heavily dependent on your customer demographic and how much business you can acquire.

Here's some information I don't mind sharing.

When I started in 2007, I closed with 5 clients, made $700.
My second year out (2008), I made enough to "make it" but lived off credit cards and skimmed down all vacations, luxuries and anything that was not necessary. Closed with 161 clients.
My third year out (2009), I doubled my money from the second year, closed with 450 clients.
My fourth year out (2010), I made 1.5x what I made in 2009, closed with 850clients.
My fifith year out (2011), I made 3x what I brought in during 2010, added 2 more stores, more employees, contractors and tons of expenses I wasn't expecting. Closed with probably 1600 clients (still doing the final count).

That's a forecast I wasn't expecting or planning on happening. They say you can plan and forecast, but all I know I can forecast right now is how hard I work, as I am the main marketing and business developer.

Im glad you stepped in the picture so the original poster can get a clear answer. Sometimes someones wants to see just how it would work and what it looks like from another persons perspective. Its not really about intelligence predicting your sales forecast its about consistency to grow.
