What is your Choice of Operating System?

Notice they launch a new OS as soon as you have completely mastered the old one... XP we will miss you

But the majority of my clients and im talking 90% are still on XP. some even reverted from Vista back to XP

A few years ago I switched to a Debian based linux with the KDE desktop for all my personal/business use. I only used Windows systems when I was fixing them for customers or keeping abreast of them so I could. I was always so happy and relieved to get back to the linux as soon as I could.

Then Windows 7 came out. I can honestly say it's the first time I've found a Windows system as fast and pleasant to use as my linux system. I haven't switched to it, but I'd enjoy using Windows 7 as my primary OS.

I own 3 computers:

- 1 running under XP, because it's stable, many people still have it and I need to "keep in touch" with it, even if I know it very very well.
- 2 running under 7, because it's the OS everyone will use soon, it looks good, it's stable, I love the new features, and it's pretty fast.

OS X , Windows 7 and Linux Mint.

Windows 7 because it is about a 5000% improvement over Vista and a small improvement over XP as well.

Linux Mint because its one of the only distros that actually works out of the box without having to fiddle and tinker with it endlessly.

OS X because its hands down the best OS made. All the power of Linux but wrapped in highly refined GUI makes it a joy to work with. As secure as linux and more stable than Windows. Whats not to love?

My personal machine is Windows 7. The other machines in my office are XP Pro, but only because there's no need at the moment to change.

The laptop that I take onsite for service calls is triple-booted to XP Pro, Vista Ultimate (32-bit) and Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit). If I need to use it on a call, I usually boot up whatever the customer is using.

I'm already very familiar with XP & Vista, so last fall I made Win 7 my day-to-day OS allowing me to increase my "real-world" education of it. The majority of my customers are XP & Vista, but I'm getting more and more Win 7 machines.
