I want to offer a backup solution to our customers. Right now we're writing batch files using MS backup and having them transfer to an external HDD. We have a folder on the drive for each day of the week. It works very well but I feel like we need a more bullet proof solution. Is there a good software/hardware solution? Thanks for any help.

I use Carbonite Online Backup for all my customers who request a backup solution. I became a reseller as well. I've had good success with them.

Get a top level local backup program such as Acronis backup and back up your system to an external drive on a regular, automated basis. This will give you a fast restore source and a bare metal restore capability if needed. The automated backup will make sure that the backup gets done.

Get an extra external drive to which you will do a full image backup of your entire system and keep the drive somewhere safe off of your premises. This will give site redundant disaster recovery so that if the local premises or computer got ruined, you won't be out of business.

Subscribe to an online backup service for your most important data whch will capture changes as they happen and save them in the background while your work on other things. Online backup is not suitable for general backup because it's too slow and very expensive for any reasonable size hard drive.

remote site and encryption

My friend told me he uses Cobian Back up and encrypts his back up files to a remote website that is not live. He justs uses the website so that he can ftp his back up files and Cobian can do that.

Has anyone ever used Cobian Back Up and instead of paying for remote storage like Carbonite, anyone ever just sign up for a website and transfer their back ups that way ? i think Cobian can do automated back ups as well.
