List the program and some basic features and why ...

I been using ez back it up recently, its extremely simple which is a pro and a con, but I'm a little uneasy with it given its simplicity and I'm looking for an alternative.

I'm talking mostly in an xp environment where ntbackup is primitive and not user friendly to check for backup success or failure. MS backup was greatly improved with vista and 7.

If the machine has a Western Digital, or Seagate drive I use Acronis WD/Seagate. Basically Acronis True Image but just the basic, backup / restore functionality. Otherwise I'll use Easus Todo backup.

FBackup seems to work pretty well. It has VSS, will backup to network locations and has normal or mirror options.

I've gone off GFI backup since I noticed it stores the entire path of the original files in the backup location and so runs into path length problems pretty frequently.

I am extremely surprised that no one said Robocopy :) Why not use what's already provided for you in the operating system? A simple batch file, add it to the task scheduler, and you're good to go :D
