I've always struggled with how to label my business since we do a variety of things...
IT, Website Design, Search Engine Optimization, Software Development

Nearly 80% of our revenue comes from Web & SEO, so we're primarily a digital marketing firm offering IT services, but I don't want to leave out the IT aspect of the business either.

Are we a "Business Technology" company? That's what I've been using, but I'm not sure if that's the best "label" for us. I need a clear picture for when I'm in network meetings or have the opportunity to introduce myself to others.

Any ideas? Thanks!

No matter how hard I try to come up with some spunky name that sounds cool ultimately I am the computer guy.

I use Information Technology. Since that's what I deal with in it's many forms. The label Business Technology might imply things other than IT/Computer/Web based stuff.

I came across someone calling themselves a "Techsultant" recently. I don't think I'll be adopting this one, but I suspect it was an effort to avoid the "Computer Guy" label. I think @nlinecomputers is on to something with "IT Solutions Provider", but I'll bet his clients still refer to him as the computer guy (as do mine).

If you are lucky enough to be able to focus on a single industry, then I think you should take advantage of that and label your company to drive that point home. Other than that, I live with 'Computer Guy' as long as I can continue to get new clients and they keep paying me. :D

Doesn't matter how I introduce or what I call myself. When ever I'm at a client and their phone rings almost invariably they say "I'll call you back. My "Computer Guy" is here.".

Part of the problem is that except for "consultant" there really isn't a one-word name for ourselves. Not like Plumber, Mechanic, Doctor, etc.

I tell people I'm an IT services provider most people just call me the nerd.

Huh, I'm just usually referred to as "The long haired guy."

Perhaps an interesting acronym.

All Things Information Technology. ATIT, pronounce it how you like....
Solutions IT. SIT, you would always be telling people to sit...

That happens to me, too. Sometimes it feels like I am the convenient excuse so they don't have to talk with somebody at that moment. Then we get back to talking about fishing. :)

Have you consider setting up "DBA" Doing Business as.

My company name is Sarceno Network Consulting LLC "SNC" I offer the same service like everyone else (fix / repair /RMS) including Web design and hosting, application development, data recovery etc.

But approx 2 yrs ago, I started offering PBX (VoIP) hosting. I end up setting another company called VoipAccess as DBA.
As far as taxes is concern, I only need to file under SNC
