What a long day

The company I work for full time has been doing early morning concrete pours and I have been going in early to be prepared for computer problems.

Yesterday I got up at 2 and as I was leaving the gas station on my way in I got a call that the batch computer was down. At 10 to 3 I clocked in and grabbed a replacement computer and started out. Decided to turn around and grab the software for that location too.

Got to the plant at 3:30 and get to work understanding the situation. In my mind configuring a replacement from another location is a better idea than repairing the bad machine, but I'm told to try a repair. A tech for the company that supplied the system walks me through an attempt to fix the problem and that fails. We switch to configuring a different plants spare.

We have to pull the database off of the failed computer because of a restore problem. That works and the computer is configured properly now. We try to send an order and it fails to receive it. I tell my boss everything works, but we can't receive orders. I'm told to make it perfect. We try and no luck so we decide to leave it until the end of the day since orders can be entered manually.

I was on the phone with tech support for 2 hours total.

I leave after making sure that things work and head into the main plant. I order a replacement machine and keep busy until 3 pm.

I head back to the plant and the tech remotes in to revert to a previous software version. That works and we fix problems in the configuration caused by reverting to this version.

I head back to the main location to drop some stuff off. I end up clocking out at 5:30 pm.
