Hi i've got a HP Pavillion DV4 which was dropped. Now I have blinking power light when connected to ac adaptor with the battery but when I remove the battery still connected to ac adaptor no lights. and on pressing power button the all lights comes on for 2 seconds and go off(this is again with battery) a bit frustrated. I have stripped it down to mobo only still the same. Can Anyone help.!!!!

have you tried with another DC plug? (i dunno the correct name but i'm mencioning the part in the laptop where you plug the charger)

If it was dropped it maybe beyond repair? If its for a client I'd be offering them a new unit or at least a second hand unit. My .02

I m getting full 19.5v so that's not bad

DV series are at least for me are a don't bother and just replace laptop.
Same.

Just because the AC adapter reads 19.5v doesn't mean it can produce that under load.

I would tear it all down, just board and DC jack and power button and see if it will turn on. Try another adapter and DC jack if you have it. If it still doesn't power on replace the motherboard.

This indicates that the laptop still able to charge the battery.

"pressing power button the all lights comes on for 2 seconds and go off"
This I will suggest we check on the CPU connection first, try reseat CPU.
When the laptop been dropped, there are sockets and connectors could have be shocked and thus caused some poor contacts.

The laptop powers off in 2 seconds to protect the components from getting more damages.
Also check the CPU fan power cable and connectors, if the fan power wire and connector is getting the poor contacts on the motherboard and not able to get the fan kicked in, the mobo could have designed to power this machines off to prevent the potential overheating.

Just some suggestions here and hope these help,
