Weird Email Issue with Verio.com

A client all of sudden can't send emails from his account hosting at Verio.

Two different computers and 1 phone have been tested as well as wiping and re-adding the accounts to Thunderbird and Outlook.

Emails appear to send fine, but are never received.

There is no issue receiving incoming mail.

The webmail interface works properly.

Verio confirmed the proper imap settings and basically said thats all the support they can offer because the settings are correct and the webmail interface works properly.

Is there any other possibilities I might be overlooking before I reach back out to Verio?

I'd like to move them to AppRiver because these kinds of issues seem to occur every 8-9 months.

A weird thing is the last time something like this happened, the client was out of state, and his phone email stopped working, I don't recall if it was just outgoing emails not being delivered or incoming as well) and this latest issue started when he was out of state. His main work computer is still in its normal location so it did not travel with him.

I only mention this because it struck me odd similar issues occurred while his was travelling and maybe it is somehow related. (Although that seems weird.)

Any ideas what could cause this behavior?
