Hey people, I just got 3 website mock ups back from my designer and wanted to know what you think, please note they are very rough and have no content

Layout 1

Layout 2

Layout 3

I like layout 3 although the colour scheme could do with alot of work and its lacking something at the top

I like #3, too, although I agree that the colors (colours ;) ) are a bit too bold or bright.

Could you have them make an animated magic wand dance around the computer, and when it touches it, it goes from blue screen to a smiley-face desktop, or something like that? Of course, it would have to be only once per page visit - wouldn't want to show your nicely fixed computer going BSOD, would you?

I like that suggestion I'll email that idea to pam (the designer) these are only images of possible mock ups but i am liking layout 3, I'm writing to her now about maybe a slightly darker colour scheme but not too dark that its uninviting. :)

I like the colors of #2 best. With #3, I think I would change the "PC Wizard" font.

I agree about the font it needs to be a bit bigger too I've sent alot of change recommendations to her, thanks for suggestion I espeically like the layout on number 3 its just the colours and rest of it that need changing but its very very early days yet so many revisions to come I expect.

keep em coming guys as i appreciate your feedback I've never designed a website before so i need all the help i can get with giving ideas to pam :)

New mockup

My designer has given me a new screenshot of a possible new layout :) she also had this to say about it.

This is what I was thinking, once you open up the layout you will see that it looks like a stage.

I will create the site to function like this.

Once the site if first loaded the curtain will be down and will then come up to reveal the stage.

The hat right now looks like crap, but my thought process was to have a hat, and then have the wand twirl, and then stars or sparkles come out of the hat and go up towards the area the is lighted, and then your business name would appear.

I'm looking forward to seeing where she is going with this since i provided some positive feedback and questions about it. only time will tell

i would suggest something like that:
h*tp://www.templatemonster.com/website-templates/9820.html

all the websites you saw us are made like its was back in the 90s , not Web 2 at all.

the idea with the curtain makes me laugh

you are a computer repair professional not an actor or theater.

i wish i could explain it better whith my poor english

I would go with something like that without the flash. I think you should go with something more professional looking.

I tend to agree with greggr. That curtain/twirling wand idea is really cheesy and doesn't look like a layout meant for a computer repair pro. Honestly, I think an company's website that has to rely on flashy animations and sound effects and stuff is REALLY annoying.

Obviously, it's your site, so do what you want.... but I'd be steering things back towards the original three templates you showed.

I've emailed my designer to scrap the theatre one and maybe go back to the other ones that i posted earlier i'm thinking maybe go back to layout 3 but make it blue and tweak it here and there

I am going to agree here as well. In fact, even the first 3 template examples don't really jump out at me. Maybe it's because we service more corporate biz2biz clients than residential? I am not sure.

I think that you should also ask some people in your network of friends and families what they think; after all, it's people who don;t know much about computers that will be looking at your website for help, not us.

Those are some good points, my family didn't like the theatre style one at all so thats when i emailed the designer to ask her to scrap it. I'll see what she comes up with next, the content is jargon free and i must say its not bad but now i need a layout worthy of the feel of the content. :)

I agree that your original 3 are better than the curtain site. However there is an element of the curtain site you can use. You are Pc Wizard so you could have pc related problems like slow computer creep come out of the hat and a wand comes out and makes the slow computer problem disappear. Same goes for viruses, spyware, adware etc.... You could even dress up like professionally like a wizard (not like Merlin or anything) but you could have a modern "geek look" like Harry Potter...it may sound cheesy but I bet it would work

I like that idea of the hat and stuff coming out of it maybe it could happen on the right hand side of the site, not sure about dressing like harry potter though lol :p

Harry Potter fused with Merlin... hmmm.. lol Would you trust him with your PC?

I like Template #3, colour scheme #1 (and yes I did spell COLOUR correctly).

In Template #1, I reckon take that big banner, including the dude in the suit holding the lappy, and put it into Template #3 at the top going right across. Drop the navigation menu down a bit so it sticks up just a bit overlapping the edge of the banner, and put that search function thats in Template #3, put it inside the laptop the dude in the suit is holding. Fonts are all good, but colour scheme isn't right to me.

Just my 2 cents =)

*EDIT*
Cool Template
