Hey All, the new design on my site is nearing completion, I didnt pay another designer but a friend of Eric's came forward asking if i would be interested in her doing me a site for free since she is building up her portfilo.

Anyway since its nearly done i'm having a hard time deciding on a background for the body, please take a look

This one I kinda like as its not too plain

Ona is such a diamond she knows her stuff and is clearly very good at websites unlike that other one :( I'm just deciding over a background for the final look of the site, please note the services page isn't done yet. but its coming along great :)

Ok well the sites not perfect but it is a lot better and is now a decent enough representation for your company. You're giving us too much choice though.
I'd go with one of these:

http://azfoxdesigns.com/projects/pcwizard/final/index2j.html
http://azfoxdesigns.com/projects/pcwizard/final/index2i.html
http://azfoxdesigns.com/projects/pcwizard/final/index2b.html
http://azfoxdesigns.com/projects/pcwizard/final/index2p.html

however at the end of the day it's your preference really... you're the customer.

Hi joe, yeah its a much better one then I had before and it does reflect my business better, although its not completly finished yet so the little flaws you have probably noticed will be ironed out such as the services page has yet to be finished and meta tags e.t.c. I also want to add stuff to it further down the line such as remote support but for now it will do :)

thanks for your suggestions I like those backgrounds I think i'm gonna go with index2j as I was leaning towards that myself its a nice shade. :)

You always want to fade out the background of your site. You don not want it to distract from the site in general. Any would do but make them lighter.

thats the one i'd choose, but i still worry about some of your pricing, £20 an hour i can understand but with no call out charges and you are now covering the whole of Leicestershire you could soon be out of pocket, i am speaking on a personal level here as i have had calls and when i arrived they didn't want the jobs doing they just needed confirmation so their friend down the road could fix it for free.

Well I will raise prices when i get busy at the moment i'm not busy enough to raise them.

Hmm, I've lost count of how many people have told you to raise your prices ;)

If you're not busy enough and you're only charging £20, you must be struggling to pay bills etc no? Adding £10 onto your hourly charge would increase your income by 50%! How do you know people aren't being put off by your £20 charge?

Thats a good question I dont know if people are being put off by my £20 per hour I assume that higher prices would be a massive turn off and they would seek custom from someone else, so in my mind I thought if i was a wee bit cheaper then people would come to me.

Sadly this has not worked either way by raising or decreasing prices I think it comes down to my advertising or maybe its the recession, Now that I have the site i'm gonna have that put on the adverts and see how it goes i guess.

oh btw my new site is now live :D http://www.leicesterpcwizard.co.uk

Use them all..... have a script that randomly selects one from a folder every time the site is refreshed, page change etc. it will keep it different =]
pick out the best 10 you like or so and use them =]

I know its easy to be critical and I'm not but what struck me first was all the open space on the first page...she took your left and right borders away then 2 big chunks of empty space on the page...did ya'll take about that? was that intentional so it would not look too busy?..just curious..

Well I didnt want too much clutter on the front page to be honest and Ona just went ahead and did her magic :D I'm very pleased with how the site looks. I still need my mobile number on the top part of the site along side the land line number, I even had my first online customer from it yesterday. He found the site on google and called me for my services :D

browser test

I ran your website through a browser test of some 58 browsers and noticed that
IE would have squared off tabs at the top... there was a few more browsers
that acted the same way but you may want to run it by your page designer

the site you can do this at is browsershots . org I haven't posted enough
here to leave weblinks

you imput your website address and it will test your site with every browser
and leave a screen shot from each so you can see what everyone else
will see
