Customer forgot password to unlock their WD mybook. Getdataback doesn't see any data, same with R-Studio and ubuntu. Called WD and they said I could send the drive in and have it formatted, but they can't unlock it any other way. Customer needs the data, not the drive.

Anyone have any luck unlocking one of these??

Not me, but try Nirsoft protected storage viewer to get a list of passwords he/she has used for other things. Maybe one of them was used to lock the drive, or will remind him/her of the password.

From previous research, remembering the password is just about the only option.

Can you remove the drives from the enclosure and plug it in that way. I know some drives have the preloaded software and such on the board in the enclosure and not on the drive itself. By removing the drives it might bypass the builtin software.

I agree with Brian. The drive has full disk encryption on it and can only be unlocked with the password. If the client didn't put a password on and it is a false report of the password, there might be a chance of recovery.
