I can see lots of problems.

Where are they going to get an acoustic coupler ?

Where are they going to find a ring pull to phreak a pay phone ?

Will Prof Hawking provide the voice of Joshua ?

leave the memories of the original, dont derp it all up with a modern day version. Most likely would be made in "3D" I suppose as well

Sorry, I just can't see it being as good as the original. War Games and Sneakers, IMHO, are the only two decent hacker movies ever made.

Given that the average movie-goer is much more tech-savvy than yesteryear, the movie will have to be very different and probably won't have the same charm. But, it might be good. We'll have to see. Technology has changed so much.

I loved that movie, brings back memories. XXL floppies, ancient modems, green/black monitors, etc... There was a part two a couple of years ago, although entertaining no match for the first one. I'll definitely check out a remake, for old times sake...

That Code2600 movie seems like my cup of tea as well. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for these two.

Way to many remakes do nothing but stroke the egos of some director or producer.
