Walmart requiring masks starting July 20th

We have had it here for a little bit. All businesses are expected to enforce it or be fined.
Now the individual idiots can be personally ticketed with a $250 fine per incident.

These non-maskers are as bad as the sovereign citizens and they are "traveling" and not driving.

The ordinance here is also anywhere in public where 6 feet can not be maintained not just inside a business.

I have no problems wearing a mask and I hope Walmart doing this will pressure the other stores in my area into doing this as well. I know I can't count on my state governor doing anything to help out.

Over here in the UK, we are having to wear masks in any and ALL shops, from the 24th July. If you are caught not wearing a mask (and have no good excuse, ie breathing issues, and can prove so), you are liable for a £100 fine.

What gets me is, we can walk around, and enter shops fine with no masks up to the 23rd.. but 24th, we cant.

If this was going to take place, then it should have taken place 3+ months ago, at hte start of lockdown, and since we have this specific date set, why not do it form NOW, rather than in another week or so.

Beggars belief.

About a month ago I would estimate my local Walmart had about 50% mask usage. I was in there Monday and I'd say it was at least 75%. Some businesses require them around here some not. Very hit or miss.

I was bequeathed a supply of true 3M N95 masks from my brother from fire fighting in Alaska last year.

Our local Wal-Mart (and all stores, actually) have had `mandatory` mask requirements for some time now. The sneer quotes are because they did not make any effort to enforce such.

The move by Wal-Mart, now following behind a number of other businesses like Starbucks and Costco, is making big news on NPR today, particularly since it appears they do intend to enforce it.

I was absolutely tickled when I heard the absolutely true statement, "Shopping in a store is a privilege, not a right." Wal-Mart's premises are private property, and they have every right to impose whatever strictures they wish on *all* customers. And they also have the right to grant exceptions, though those should be rare.

Yeah but in this case it's Walmart people being Walmart ONLINE. So you can enjoy the train wreck from your COVID encrusted posterior at home!

The acronym SSDD pops immediately to mind. And that's why I have no deep desire to read the howls of protest from the tin-foil-hat-wearing crowd.

I took a quick scroll and immediately regretted it. It's exactly the trainwreck I thought it was going to be.

I'm considering hanging out in the Walmart parking lot after work on Monday just to see what happens. I thought my small town would be better than this, but boy was I wrong.

My Walmart is all masks with employees and has been since god knows when. Florida is good, the media lies.
It is not the employees not wearing masks. It is the customers refusing to wear them. (insert non-health-related excuse here)
The only chance for masks to work or at least help is if everyone wears them, and wears them correctly. I see so many with their nose uncovered.

When I go to Costco for example, they will give you a new mask if you do not have one. There is no excuse for at least a simple disposable mask.
