Vista not updating from SP1

I've got a problem with Vista not updating. It's never updated since he's had the computer from Vista SP1, he says it will just sit there forever and never do anything. I checked it out, it will download the updates but it will just sit there forever on the install part and do nothing. I ran malwarebytes on it and found nothing. You can browse the web fine, but when trying to install itunes or quicktime it just sits there as well doing nothing.

Has anyone ever this seen before or have any idea what the cause is or have any suggestions? I searched google and didn't find anything helpful. Trying to avoid having to b/u and then reload everything as there's a lot of programs on the computer. Thanks.

Not sure why you ran MBAM as it doesn't sound like a malware issue.

So, other than some googling, what else have you done? What google search terms have you tried?

Try the network install from safe mode.

Have you tried manually installing SP2?

Look at event viewer, you should get some kind of error code. Google from there.

MSCONFIG first before using it
