Hi guys, I have a query if anyone can please assist me.

I have a client who has a IBM Lenovo R61 laptop. The COA on it is for Vista Business. She brought it in, due to having no drivers installed.

Long story short, a n other company installed xp pro on it. (Checked the code and its a crack).

I have told my client that due to the installation being false, even if I installed the drivers etc, the computer would not activate, nor have the ability for updates etc. The best thing to do would be to reinstall windows, using their original coa.

With it being vista Business, I do not have a copy of it. On technet, vista business is unavailable for download.

I have been in touch with M$ re either a download link, or the physical media. Due to the fact that its a OEM licence, they cannot help, and to contact IBM.

Contacted IBM, who want in excess of £80 for the recovery media. On top of my fee, this would make the cost of the job too much.

Which brings me to the point of this thread.. does anyone have a copy of vista business, I could download, or copy please?

Thanks in anticipation.

Thought Vista DVD had all versions onb, just key decides what to install?

I use one that came with my old Gateway laptop, its got them all on or have I been lucky?

I wondered that, but you don't get the Business edition on the Anytime DVD's.

Correct me if I'm wrong. If Vista was Set up like Windows 7 then it will depend on how the CD was made. The CDs have all the versions but it depends on if they are unlocked or not.

In other words you can take a Windows 7 Home Premium Disk, Make an ISO out of it and run the unlocker program to open up the Business and Ultimate. Then you burn the modified ISO onto a disk. Then it will ask you what version you want to install. I believe Vista is the same way.

You are correct to a degree, this can be done, but you do not get Business or Enterprise when you remove or edit the ei.cfg file. The versions with Vista differ slightly. Business and Enterprise require a different ISO.

Starter
Home Basic
Home Premium
Professional
Ultimate

i thought that if you have the ultimate disc then you can enter any key and it will install the correct version for the key. in vista. windows 7 is different you have to remove the ei.cfg file to enable that feature.

With Vista Pro the customer would have been perfectly entitled to downgrade to XP Pro. While cracking the OS was not right, you could have installed XP Pro and called MS for a licence number.

I would just like to say a HUGE thanks to knightsman. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty with this request.

Thanks again mate, I really do appreciate it. If I can ever reciprocate then I will. :)
