vista boot problem

I have a windows vista laptop that will not boot, the installed vista repair program fails and try to do a reinstall from vista operating disk fails at 22% of extracting files. system does not boot up long enough to get to the dell system recover alt F11...

If you can't even get a fresh install to complete its most likely hardware related.

What kind of hardware diagnostics did you do on the system? ram/hd/temps/etc

Like kisk said, we need more info. Whenever you post a question list all the things you tried so we're not throwing guesses out. It will also help you get a quicker solution

you guys are correct sorry I was fixing 5 computers at once and none of them was a quick fix got frustrated...hard drive failure bad sectors user does not want to spend the money for a new hard drive and labor to reimage. the laptop is barely 3 years old.. cant blame him i guess when dell is giving things away for under $400.
