Virtual Private Network (VPN)

I wanted to get some feedback about VPNs. I am trying to determine whether I should recommend a software VPN, such as Hamachi, or a hardware VPN, such as Cisco or SonicWall to my client. They have a small office with about 6 employees. The main office program is on Windows XP Pro box in a a peer-to-peer environment. I am really trying to get a feel for which direction to put my energy and research efforts into. Can those of you with some VPN installation experience give some input on which you prefer and why?

There are a lot of solutions out there. A little more detail would be helpful. Do all need to connect at one time or another? Is it for that one app or are there other services that they need to access? Most appliance based IPSEC VPN's also require that you purchase client software. Some have client-less ssh VPN's.

I'd recommend a router which supports SSL VPN - much easier to configure and without the licensing costs.

Himachi is definitely easy to setup too, but in my experience, tends to be much slower than a traditional IPSEC or SSL VPN client.
