Hi all, got a problem on which I'd like some input. The backlight comes on, but no image of any kind ever shows on the LCD. External monitor works fine. The machine does recognize the presence of the LCD panel, detects proper resolution etc., just won't show anything on it. Video cable is firmly attached at both ends, undamaged as far as I can tell, and I can wiggle it around a bit with no change, but I don't have another to try. I plugged in a different LCD panel; didn't work (not even a backlight). Any ideas?

Video Chip.

Have to taken it apart yet? Check the fan to see if the vent is clogged or the fan is really dirty. This is a hint as to it might have over heated at some point in its past. Then I would consider it a video chip issue.

Whats the Video chip? Nvidia , AMD? Intel?

That's what I was thinking. :(

The fan and everything else inside is very clean.

It's Intel video. Currently it's reinstalling the video driver just in case it got tweaked somehow.

If you can't see the BIOS splash screen then it's got nothing to do with the driver, that's the PXE environment.
I realize that, but I wanted to be able to say I tried everything. Needless to say, it made no difference.

I'm thinking this machine is a lost cause, as it can be replaced for not a whole lot more than the cost of a motherboard swap.

A GPU fault would also affect the external display, so it wouldn't be that. Getting an external display working eliminates the GPU as the cause.

It's Intel video.
So no dedicated GPU, it's part of the CPU. Another indication this is not a GPU problem.

I would normally think screen cable or screen panel problem, though it can occasionally be the screen cable connector on the motherboard.

To be honest I'd have probably done the same just in case they asked the question.
