Do you use 'I' or 'we' on your website and other materials. I am struggling with deciding on which one I want to use for my business, sometimes it just sounds weird to say "..we offer such and such a service.."

I use "we" when talking about the business.

If I'm asked how many people I employ I'll let them know it's just me.

I do have a volunteer PR person as well so I guess I'm not exactly a 1 man shop.

As you grow in your business and have to take on help whether full time/part time or contract, you will not have to change your wording.

I agree with using 'we' rather than I unless specifically asked, and then I might say, just myself at the moment.

I just finished making a brochure detailing one of my new contracts and I worded everything so that it flows fine without using "I" or "we". Like "Call today to schedule a free ...", or "This service covers ..." Instead of "My/Our service.."

However on my website I say "I". Now that I review that I'll be reviewing it in the next few days and probably rewriting some sections.

Be ambiguous about it. It's very easy to avoid any mention of "I" or "We". But if you must then you could say for example "Gikstar Tech Services offers very competitive prices".

Great idea. I understand where uscwaller is coming from, even now with employees I still have trouble using 'we' when referring to the business, it feels a bit like the 'royal we' to me for some reason. 'I' feels more personal, but 'we' feels more professional.

you and your company are "we".

You stand for something, and so does your company. So we look out for a customer. Couldnt think of it like that.

In business always make yourself look larger than you really are. There's a computer guy in my area that has named his company "The Computer Guy". I always chuckle a little bit when someone tells me about him. Then I say "When that GUY goes on vacation, let US know and WE will be there to help you with your systems."

If your business is registered, then your business is an entity.
You as a person are also an entity.
The number of entities working is yourself and your business.
Therefore you are not alone

Are you building a business or promoting yourself?

I think a lot of people have touched on it, for business it makes the most sense to say "we". You may only be one person right now, but as a business you may need to hire someone and then you'd have to say "we" anyhow, right?

I usually just use the business name, and avoid using I or we. However, I have my name and ID card listed in my terms and conditions, as the person representing the business name.
