Using Gmail interface with email hosted elsewhere?

I have a client who one of the employees wants to use the gmail interface for their email. It is currently hosted from Own Web Now and I am going to move it to appriver.

It is possible and reliable to interface it with gmail somehow?

you can have gmail send and receive email from another account. I do it with a pop att.net account, it saves all the messages and does a good job of filtering spam.

In gmail, go to settings and Accounts and Import to set it up.
