I've had so many of these adapters throughout the years. I last settled on a couple of the Vantech models including their USB to SATA/IDE one. It eventually bit the dust like most do. I have a StarTech one coming today but that one appears to just be a generic mold that is resold by many manufacturers including Sabrent unless Sabrent is the same company as StarTech although I see the same style model being sold by multiple manufacturers so it can't be that. However in the computer hardware game I wouldn't be surprised if they are all owned by the same company. What do you use? How reliable is it?

I have a Vantec 2.5/3.5in SATA toaster (USB 3.0) that has been ticking along for years. Just bought a dual toaster-style that has built in cloning, for get the brand...works well so far. About an hour to clone a half full 500GB drive all by itself - just needs to be plugged in to power. Was like $45 on Amazon.

As for those IDE/SATA ones that are a mess of cables and adapters in a box...I have had a couple fail. I have a startech one that is going on 2 years now - not too much use with the toasters...I take it onsite only.
