I just purchased a Seagate FreeAgentGo 250 External Harddrive and every time I connect to the usb all the info gets erased and windows keep saying windows delayed write failed I've tried uninstalling the usb drivers , formatting, chkdsk, I know the hd works cause i have another computer it works fine on that one my last option is reinstalling windows. Anybody got any ideas please let me know!!!:confused::confused::confused:

Tried the drive in safe mode worked took all the info and reformated the computer reinstalled windows now works fine.

A lot of times you'll get that message if you just pull out the cord without using the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon that pops up by your clock on the taskbar. You have to right click it and stop the harddrive before disconnecting.

Oops, misread OPs original post. I.T. Works is right on the money.

it seems like this issue is resolved, but I wanted to put in my two cents for any future readers who may be experiencing a similar issue.
When I see this happen to an external HDD, in my experiance it is usually either a power issue, or a defective drive. The first thing I would try is make sure the drive is getting enough power.
If it is a 2.5" drive, and it has only one USB connection, try a different port, one not through an un-powered hub. Usually the motherboard will supply the required power, or if not, try a powered hub.
If the 2.5" drive has two USB connections, one is for supplemental power. Make suer it is plugged into a port that supplies power, see last paragraph.
If it is a full-sized drive, make sure the power adapter is plugged all the way in and even get out your multimeter and test the output to make sure it is putting out the power it needs to. Hope this helps someone.

problem still occurring  i have tried all the usb ports they all do the same thing but when i connect to my other computer it works perfect the only difference on the other computer is that im running a sata hd in the machine im:eek: gonna try a different hd in this machine and see if that fixes the problem
