Got a Canon inkjet printer (272) has stopped working on a clients laptop. I have so far:-

  • Changed the USB cable
  • Reinstalled the drivers
  • Tested the USB port with a memory stick - it works
  • Tested the printer on one my main workshop computer - it works

I don't yet have the laptop in my procession, but anybody got any ideas what could be causing this issue?

Monday long shots -
printer spooler service stopped?
is it in Offline mode?
are there queued documents?
set to wrong printer?

- yes, I have no idea :(

Sorry I should have explained a bit better, it is not even recognising that the USB device is plugged in. The drivers don't find the printer either. It is like there is no electrical connection there. However a USB stick works fine in the same port, and the printer works fine on one of my computers.

Uninstall all the software, unplug the USB cable, delete any entries in Device Manager, delete any unidentified device entries in device manager, then re-install printer following the manufacturer's instructions.
