UPS with phone tag

My UPS comes with a phone tag,what is the use of this tag..Is it internal modem built inside???

I am assuming you mean that it has a telephone input and output on your UPS? This is used to keep surges that travel through phone lines from entering your machine!

As Chris said it's a surge protector for your modem.

I'd suggest hooking it up too if you have your modem plugged into a jack. It might be anecdotal evidence, but I've never lost a modem on one of my machines because I've always used a surge protector that includes a phone jack.
