Has anyone had experience with this?
Client ordered a Dell Precision M4800 with the default LCD screen which only does 1366x768 rather than the 1920x1080 screen.
Has anyone replaced it with the 1920x1080 screen? (Without any additional parts?) It appears this model comes with 3 choices of a video card and each one is a 2Gb card, not on-board graphics except the Intel graphics via the i7-.4810MQ cpu. Both video drivers are installed - Intel's and Nvidias K1100m.

I have one of these units which has the Ultrasharp FHD LED (LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.6FHD, WLED, AG, LEGEND) whereas this one has the HD FHD (LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.6HDF, AG, EDP, INX)

I've made contact with laptopscreen.com and asked them but they don't get involved with upgrades.... (they aren't techs)
Can anyone help?

Cost effectiveness no.
Can you be a little more specific? The screen itself is $90 and these laptops go for $1900 on sale at Dell, so if it's only say $100 in parts and $50 labor, that's not a real big deal to someone who needs to use it as a workstation graphics station compared to the quality of the screen as it is now.

This is a new laptop why not just see if he can return it and order the correct one.

Changing the screen involves more than just installing a new screen and graphic card. You have to change cables, possible backlight pcb, and the mount might be slightly different.

You also need to insure you are installing the correct model of the new screen. With out knowing what manufacture and model of screen that Dell uses you could just be waisting time and money.

Top this all off with a voided warrenty.

$90 for a new screen sounds rather cheap. You sure you're not getting a cheap knock off for that price?
