Got an odd graphics glitch after a reinstall on my own machine. It only seems to affect facebook on firefox. Tried reinstalling the driver, tried it on my other monitor (which has facebook open in opera on it with no problems) and it still happens. I am rather puzzled, here it is.

It goes if i scroll a bit or mouse over it.

I've seen this happen with msn. From memory, it's something to do with your graphics driver. Maybe try reinstall or another driver.

Have tried reinstalling graphics driver and reseating card already, nothing. Will try and get previous driver from AMD

Just ran into a similar problem though it wasn't limited to browser or website. This particular problem ended up stemming from ram that had a few bad address areas in it. Changed ram and problem went away. Doubt it is related here but figured I would mention it just the same.

Have you attempted running dxdiag or any graphical diagnostics? The above about turning off the excelleration is the first way to go in my opinion. Do you get a problem like this in Safe mode or in a different resolution or is it isolated to this exact setup and driver?

Try typing about:config in the firefox URL bar?

and search for gfx.direct2d.disabled and set it to true.

Maybe tools-->options-->advanced
uncheck use hardware acceleration?

Worth a stab!

Nope, done all sorts of different drivers, modded and official, that hasn't done it. Getting quite confused now, enabling and disabling the clear type and changing the wizard does make odd differences, but doesn't get it quite right either. Uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, just in case.

No ambient occlusion option in Catalyst

Sorry didn't see the last three replies, sorry guys. Trying them out now. Turning off hardware acceleration appears to make the problem kind of worse, well worse in the way that the same distortion occurred on the menu page briefly after I turned it off.

Text of all tab titles all looks odd now too. Pages still fine, except facebook.

gone into about:config and two gfx values were already set by user to be true, as I say, this is a fresh install and I haven't tinkered with the about config yet, so I have set them to false.

the two values were the one you suggested vyper and gfx.direct3d.prefer_10_1

which i'm assuming has something to do with dx10?

It all appears to be ok now :) no problem on facebook I can see yet, but it may start again, I haven't tested more thoroughly than a few mins yet.

I thought i would see if i can pin down what it is so, i turned the hardware acceleration back on and the problem came back. Switched it off, its ok, the direct2s value has reset itself to true and the direct3d value has stayed at false. So I have set it back to true and it still seems to work.

very odd. Anyone got any idea what caused it?
