Seemed like a virtual office network, with an Untangle instance on a 20 gig HDD, with a buncha virtual client guests with Firefox instances running ....probably a script cycling through a few web pages to create traffic.

Yeah, that's what it looks like. At any rate thanks for the tip on this. It's been years since I've looked at Untangle but this looks really great from a management/feature perspective. So I'll give it a whirl.
 
Man, this is really impressive. But I do find it odd that accessing a website in a blocked category results in a certificate error rather than a "this site is blocked" message.
 
I've used untangle in the past with a minimal server. runs best with a system above the standard min specs. had a good response with it.

If it's an httpS site...you need the SSL inspector module installed with an SSL cert imported into Untangle to properly manage httpS sites by being a trusted middle man.
