Is it posible to unliscense my 2007 word copy from my laptop to "reuse" it again in a future build? I know you get three liscenses for Word, but I am wondering i they can be reused.
While I'm not 100% sure there is a way to disarm a registration, I do believe that once your three uses have been depleted you can just register using the "Activate by Phone" method and then explain to them that you have gotten rid of your old laptop and have upgraded to a newer one and wish to reinstall Microsoft Office 2007 onto the new laptop or PC.
You are right, the entire time you are on the phone they are tracing your location, running a voice analysis for any previous pirate behavior and if any is detected they will send the SBA, 4 lawyers and the small detachment from your states national guard to subdue you while they ransack your home and office.
Not exactly - the phone person (if you even get to a person, it's now included in some of their automated systems), then they just remove the flag that shows its been activated X times.
(AFAIK, I have never worked for MS, so it's just my surmising based on experience with them)
So if the flag is removed once could I then install it on ten more computers?{/QUOTE]
Ignoring the legal implications, yes (You may need to phone activate again more than once during that time).
As long as MS are satisfied that you're not running the software concurrently on more machines than you're licensed for, then they will keep allowing your key to be activated.
None of us, I imagine, know the exact working on MS's licencing system. But we do know that you can legally and practically move Office from one PC to another.
Just uninstall it, that normally allows it to be installed on a newer machine.
I have installed my copy of office 2007 about 6 times due to upgrades, etc.
I believe they do it more with "active" licences. so you may have it installed 6 times but if only 3 are phoning home your good. Seems to be what i have noticed.
