I have a Dell laptop running Win XP MCE that will not connect to a secured wireless network. It connected to this network without a problem before there son wiped out some files. The owner tried to reinstall the OS and botched it up, so this is when I received it and formatted and reinstalled OS and drivers.

I tried reinstalling the wireless drivers, deleting the wireless profile, using Intel Proset, using windows utility and it will not connect. But if I remove the WEP key it connects without a hitch.

Anyone ever had this problem?

To any wireless network or just the one? When you say "remove the WEP key" is that from the laptop or the router?

I was only able to try it own their secured wireless, but it would connect to any unsecured available. I removed the WEP key from their router and it connects fiine.

Can their router use a WPA instead...also key bit encryption conflicts have caused me difficulties in the pass..match ISP encrypt system to theirs maybe there was a change..just a few thoughts..let us know how it turns out, wireless networking is something I really like to fiddle with..

It is a Linksys B router and only allows WEP 64 or 128, I tried both. They have 2 other laptops that connect using WEP without a problem.
