Ubiquiti authorization

Hey there Ubiquiti users, I placed an order from D&H over the weekend and found that it is delayed. Apparently, Ubiquiti has implemented a new program requiring distributors to authorize anyone they sell Ubiquiti to. The form will take you just a few minutes to complete but it could cause a delay if you are in need of an order and have to wait for authorization. Just for good measure, I logged into my Ingram account and submitted the process with them as well.

What exactly did you have to give them? I can see trying to keep in line with export controls.
Nothing too deep. Name, company name, address, vendor account number etc. also, answer yes or no to questions about selling online. I’m guessing that it is, at least in part, trying to prevent people/companies from reselling at less than SRP.

Yeah, but how low a price can one get. I'm sure those with large volume get a lot more than someone like me. Take a USG3. The best discount I've found out there has been less 9% on the 'Internet". Can't make a killing selling like that.

We also use D&H - as OP noted, all Ubiquiti products now have the "Authorization Required" tag. We contacted our sales rep and they are handling it for us. Whatever data they want, D&H must already have as our rep said they didn't need anything additional from us. There are other products that we have had to get authorization for in the past as well - the only one we've ever been denied was for HP printers. IIRC, the rep said they required a much larger volume that we have to be approved. Mostly we get printers locally or from other vendors anyway, so NBD. The Ubiquiti thing is new as we just bought 3 NanoHDs last week without this step.

Additional info - this must be a D&H thing, not a Ubiquiti thing. When we called Provantage, they have no such pre-authorization requirement. I didn't check Synnex.

My Streakwave rep asked me if we sold on Amazon... so it's possible that there is something going on to control that.

Yeah we've had to do that both at D&H and Ingram for a few vendors recently...not just Ubiquiti. We've already been set for many years with HP, Lenovo, Dell...but our office manager has had to recently fill these out for other brands...such as for Bose..just for an order of speakers for a nicer custom build we're doing.

This isn't just for Ubiquiti...it's something new spreading across wholesalers for many products.

I was told it just went into effect with D&H on 12/1. Not sure about Ingram but I saw the same notation is on their site as @YeOldeStonecat said.
