Customer bought this laptop originally with Windows 8 and later upgraded to Windows 10. It seems that Windows Updates service pushes a driver that doesn't work (at all). A quick search on the internet confirms this and you can find specific methods that should bring the touchpad back to life.
Customer first asked us to help with this around a month or so ago, and we managed to fix. Lately, the customer informed us while assisting with another request, that the touchpad is not working again and that they tried to re-install drivers and so on, with no luck. So he asked us to have a look at it again. Tried several methods, none seem to be working. Since the customer also reported some weird explorer issues, we have advised that it would be better to just re-install the OS and start from scratch.
Long story short, I decided to try UBCD before re-installing the OS. Strangely enough, the touchpad doesn't work in UBCD. Now I am wondering, if this is a hardware issue or some incompatibility with Linux configuration. Also, same issue when booting to a Windows 10 repair media.
Anyone ever dealt with similar issues on Asus ROG laptops? The particular model is: GL552V
