OK - A while back I posted about a toshiba laptop that the screen didnt work on. Well I ordered an LCD cable that seemed like it took a slow boat from China to get here, but finally arrived.

Recap - The laptop when plugged into an external monitor, the screen worked just fine. The actual laptop screen had no backlight, nothing, just looked dead whenever i turned it on. So i got an lcd cable and intalled it.

Now what happens is, when i boot it up, the screen backlight comes on, but there is no image on the screen, yet when i hook it up to a monitor i can see everything just great.

any ideas?

I have taken it off and reattached it, still same thing.

I am beginning to think that the screen itself is bad, but seems wierd that the screen and the lcd cable would both be bad..

K. If it was Nvidia, then it would have raised the chance that the problem is the motherboard. I still think it could be, but you do need to test w/ a working screen first.

well a customer gave this thing to me and i was trying to flip it and sell it. I have someone interested in it for 125 bucks, but i gotta drop 85 on a screen, i dont know if its worth it... cause if i buy a screen and its the mobo, then i am screwed...

So before you did anything it had a black screen.
You changed the cable going to the LCD and now the screen is white.

This indicates the inverter and the lamp is working, however it should have been white before no matter the status of the lcd circuitry itself or the cable.

It sounds as though you have multiple issues here. I would not sink any more money into it at this point. It's going to be a money pit.

yea before it was just blank, no backlight or anything, basically like it was unplugged.

then when i got the new cable, i can see the backlight and it turns itself on, but there is no image on the screen, no flickering or anything.

I am beginning to think you are right, this is going to cost more to fix than i can sell it for.
