Its very urgent. I reformatted someones computer but I didnt save their drivers before the install. Big mistake. now I cant get the sound and video drivers to work even when I download them from the manufacturers website. the video drivers appear to install say to restart the machine but nothing happens. the sound ones don't run completely I get an error.

the laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio F15-AV201. and supposedly it has an nvidea geforce FX GO 5700 from what i saw online before i reformatted i think I remember reading geforece GO 6600. I tried drivers for both with no luck. Ive been working on this for 10+ hours and have run out of ideas.

This is the page I got the drivers from. I tried calling toshiba but all they could tell me was to try and download the drivers again.

Take it to a competent local computer repair technician who will resolve the issue for you quickly and at a nominal price.

Sorry fella, but if you've spent 10+ hours trying to resolve a driver issue you're not ready to go it alone no matter what your family may tell you.

I admit im not as experienced in this field. but I've been doing fine generally speaking. I've never really come across this problem before. Ive always been able to find the drivers and install them properly. Im not the only one having problems with this model. i found several posts on other forums. unfortunately they were pretty dated and no one was able to find a solution.

I typically go to the manufacturer website or driverguide.com for drivers but both seem to have failed me.

the soundmax ADI WDM Audio Driver gives me the error

"Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again."

Im not the only one having problems with this model. i found several posts on other forums.

So go back to those forums and let them help you, don't expect free help from the members here who earn a living by the simple fact they might know how to fix your problems.

Like I said those forums were pretty outdated. and i did post there but im not really expecting much since their from like 2005 and 2007. I was hoping some one would have a suggestion as to what the problem might be since the only thing i can think of is a corrupted bios. but i didnt want to go with that unless its my last option. maybe some one whose delt with this before. The problem is you. Take it to a local computer repair guy, don't expect others to fix your cock-ups for free.

My problem isn't finding the drivers. I have the drivers from the manufacturer website. but they dont work. I got 3rd party drivers from driverguide.com but they didnt seem to work either. the AC97 sound drivers give me BSOD during install. I appreciate your help.

Was all the hardware working before the format? What was the reason for the format?
And please always image the drive before you start messing about. And i'm in the dark a bit when referencing his specs to his actual problem.
It's hard when the comp isn't actually in front of you.

I didnt have the resources for creating an image and now im paying for it. (wont make that mistake again.) All the hardware was working before the install. and I reformatted because there was some bad malware in the computer.

Im sorry you feel that way. I have only been trying to start up my business for 2 months and dont have the experience in this field you do but im sure you were in my position at some point. I've been getting a steady clientele but I've run into a problem and I'm not sure how to fix it. It's a hard problem but im sure ill find a solution eventually. At this point this is more of a learning experience for me.

they did come compressed but I extracted then and ran the setup.exe

The display drivers From the Toshiba website run and say they installed successfully. It asks to restart when I do the drivers aren't really installed when I check device manager.

I backed up its drivers and restored them on the computer without drivers. pretty simple solution but it worked. I'll be backing up drivers before I do a fresh install from now on. I usually never had problems finding them from the manufacturer or 3rd party but you can never be too careful. (payed the price for trying to save some time. wont happen again)

Conveniently the elder geeks have provided no less than two shift keys on the computer keyboard, yet you have failed to notice either and as I understand it, "ya" equates to "you" in the normal sense of human communication. Was that one extra key press too much to ask?
