Too cheap Windows at cheapwindowsxppro.co.uk ?

Ok, maybe to end this back and forth...I have NOT used it myself but a quick google search tells me to RUN AWAY!!!!!

I found this on a forum where someone asked about the same website...

"After looking at the page, I noticed something shocking:

"In the rare instance that a key doesn't pass validation, we will immediately issue you a refund."

Red flag! Rare instance? A valid key will ALWAYS pass... "

IF a company sells legit software, it should NOT fail, perhaps that is enough to convince all it is not to be trusted????

I probably would of picked that up too if I read the website. But the design just screams 1999 and made my eyes hurt after a while.

Also found another forum mentioning the same site and it look even more like a scam...

"ok, won't be doing that! started to order it, ad it directed me to another site 'www.plimus.com' so i google it, and one of the more popular searchs with that url is scams....read a bit more and they start taking unauthorised pyments from your account!

Thats bad news :(

Odd though that PayPal does not blacklist them.

I just wanted to try to help offer the best answer and since I don't and won't use them from here in the US I just had a look around best i could, I am uncomfortable enough to avoid them, but I don't know what kind of verification system might be in use there, as an example I Googled for a site and quickly found one with actual links to authentication services...check the right side of the page for three links...

Goodluck and I await your results although I think it could be hit and miss, buying one doesn't to me prove anything, IF the above is true and some might fail I mean.

For those who may be interested.

The posted link is for XP.

Checking round the main site they also offer Windows7,

'For Delivery on 1 November 2009'

Windows7 is not currently available in the UK. Have just just been through an order with a customer (yesterday) for a pc with W7 from Dell.

It will come with Vista - expected delivery of W7 Dec 30 2009!

I remember all this when Vista first came out.

Of course Dell eventually came up with the goods and can be reasonably expected to do so this time.

I have a quistion.

When I get the OS and I can authenticate it as OK on-line, is that enough?
Or do I have to call MS and have them check it?

Are there any other illegal versions of windows then the ons that don't pass WGA.

Once the online activation goes through you should be all set. No need to call MS after that.

I'm am NOT going to be using an illegal key.
So that thread has no relation to this topic.

Except, what if the way to have the Windows this cheep is to sell it twice?
I mean they sell it to me and I use it, then they sell the same key to another customer that did not use Paypal so he cannot get a refund...?

You know I was thinking perhaps this guy has a technet account and sells his keys, maybe prints or has the cd/dvds printed to make them look all nice and all though, or the keys maybe printed but using technet account...just a thought.

Just to add a bit to the discussion, there is a keygen for Windows XP that creates valid keys. I believe it is only for the Enterprise edition, so there is a clue for you to look into when you get the CD and Key.

Thats why we rely on the COA to prove it is real.

Do a search on google images for xpkey.exe and the second result (with the blue title bar) is a picture of the keygen.

No I didn't suggest you (or anyone else) should use bootleg keys or software.

I do suggest you read the referenced thread and think carefully about what the OP there is implying.

CheapoXP or whatever would not say 'bootleg' either, now would they?

I remember a firm in Fulham Palace Road, not far from ElCheapo called 'Hong Software'

A few years back they used to sell unbelievably cheap Microsoft and other software. They advertised on the web and in respectable magazines.

If you ordered a copy of Windows the disk that came was a pretty good copy, hologram and all - even said 'Do not make illegal copies etc.'
The giveaway was the key which was typed onto the sleeve, wrongly and amended by hand!
I know someone who bought a batch of these - they all had the same key!

Well the verdict is inn.

You all wore right, it is a pirated copy :(
A nice yellow sticker on the back of the CD sleeve.
And a good looking CD with a cover made with LightScribe..

But I did not loose anything, I made a claim with Plimus and PayPal right away and they refunded me a few hours later.

So everyone can say "I told you so" because you truly did.
Theres open season on flaming me for the rest of the week :)

As long as you got your money back and proof that it was the best option is to go and report them to MS for the extra final knock out jab.

:D I knew I was right- I told you so, I told you so :raspberry:

Joking ;)

But, well if you got your money back then that's all that matters. I would throw away that disk as fast as possible since you know that it's pirated >.>

Yeah, its all fine, I think it was because I used PayPal.

I was actually thinking about sending the CD back :)
But there is no address :(
