lol i just got a call from a lady the said she believes her power supply has failed after the dog did his business on the computer! dont know if i really want to take on this repair. shes a good client of a friend who also used to own a computer store but closed down after getting hired somewhere else.

since pee could of went anywhere no telling whats going on!

Well, urine luck! She obviously heard you're a wizz with computers. She could have got some little squirt on Craigslist, but you're her number one choice!

It would help to know how big a problem to expect. Was it a big, hard drinking dog like a St. Beernard or a little dog known more for his other productions like a Shitzu?

Now that that's out of my system...

If you really wanted the business, you could consider telling her that there's no telling what long term damage a wet system board (especially one wet with a non-neutral pH substance) could incur. You might tell her that you could help her into a new system and her hard drive data should be recoverable off of the old disk, where hopefully it was high and dry.

Can ye please quit with the crappy jokes. They are really beginning to P!&& me off!
There are some real "wee" small minded folk round here. :D

OT

Is the dog ok? I would assume they might have gotten a shock if the pc was on at the time they did their business. I would treat it as you would any other spillage but with etxra gloves! Probably best to go the new pc/move data route if you can get them to go for it. If not, replace the power supply but with strict warnings.

This reminds me of the story of two guys hiking the back country, miles from civilization, when one of them startles a rattlesnake, which lunges and bites him in, ummm... a sensitive place. His friend pulls out his satellite phone to call for rescue, but the nearest help is hours away. He asks what he can do to save his friend, and he's told that if he acts quickly and sucks out the poison, he might live long enough for help to arrive.

"What did they say, what did they say?" asks the snakebitten man in terror, writhing in pain.

"Sorry, buddy, they said you're gonna die."

lol i guess no choice but to accept it and explain the dangers. i should have known going into the business to expect pee and humongous cockroaches in computers, definitely will take the suggestion for gloves

Lol... occupational hazard ;) I'd take a peek if I were you. I'd be wearing a latex glove and the anti-static bracelet on one and the same hand. Probably best to sell a new PSU anyway.

The dog made a point I guess ;) Less pc, more walk :D

Lol the old PSU was good, so i decided to be honest but her son wanted the thermaltake tr2 600w anyways. Turns out the dog completely shorted the on/off switch. What i did was disconnect it from the motherboard and replace it with the reset switch (which is now the power button) and when i open on November 1st the want to come in and get a new case....so in a way it worked out pretty well lol
