Hey everyone,

I'm new here, so sorry if this is posted somewhere it shouldn't be. I'm just a tech and trying to get a better grasp on tools available to clean client's computers. I saw elsewhere on these forums that other repair shops buy licenses (we do too) and it can sometimes be a bit pricey. I was googling around and found the FixMeStick. It's well-reviewed on PCMag at least, but I don't really know much about it:

This review is from 2013, so it's a bit outdated, but it's the most recent critical review I could find. The unlimited version certainly looks less expensive than the thousands of dollars in licenses. Currently at my shop we use several scans (mbam, HPM, avast, adwcleaner) and they all do their job, just that running four scans for every client can be tiresome. Has anyone tried the FixMeStick? It seems like a neat little tool if it does as good a job as the other four scanners.

I have used fixmestick a couple of times, although not in about a year. its a legit program that has support and is being updated. The couple of times I used it, it worked and I was able to boot into a pc's desktop that I was not able to get to before using it do to malware that hijacked the system. You do have to be careful to what it marks for deletion just like any live cd virus removal program. that was the only time I used it, to remove viruses on a system you couldn't get to the desktop because it was hijacked. I never tried it in other scenarios.

Program is geared towards home users I feel and takes a long time to run a scan. I had a coupon and a they had a sale when I bought it for something like 20 bucks for a years license and I was curious.

I use UVK http://www.carifred.com/uvk/ The price is good and it can be modified using your own scripts. Fred, the developer will answer queries pretty quickly too.
I also have the paid version of UVK.

If computer boots.

I stop all processes with uvk
I backup with FABS just in case.
Open portable version of ccleaner and clean up.
Then I use smart uninstaller in uvk to force remove the usual junk programs and the programs I will install later with Ninite.
Then I run adwcleaner manually.
Then I run Roguekiller I have pro version.
Then MBAM I also am reseller and sell pro to each customer.
Then I manually look for obvious leftover folders in the usual locations and delete.
Then I use FRST to scan and run the script I create to remove left overs and junk.
Then a Autoruns scan.
Then I open UVK again and use system repair with a script to selectively repair the system.
Then I use the system booster in UVK to optimize.
Do Windows updates..
Full disk cleanups that includes old windows updates and sp's.
Then I use Delfix to clean up restore points and remove some of the cleaning tools.

Defrag with Auslogics portable.

Try to up-sell a external and do a backup with Macrium.

I also use other tools as the situation arises.
