G'day folks,
Customer brought in his P520 because after installing the add-on card, the computer would only beep and no longer start.
On inspection the card purchased off eBay appears to be a second-hand unit, dust still present.
The supplier did provide a number of cables among which the 5-pin female to female as in the attached pic.
Whether the bent bracket indicates he may have damaged the PCIe slot during his attempt, or the 5-pin cable may be faulty/incompatible (no attached Lenovo label as on all the other cables), and connecting it might have might have killed something on the motherboard?
I ordered another kit directly from Lenovo but the content of the box did not include such a cable as the one in the pic.
Instead the one in the second pic, but no header on the motherboard to connect this one.
He had a P500 which he brought over but again no header on the motherboard for connecting the second cabling option.
There is however a 5-pin header marked THUNDERBOLT on both motherboards.
I'm wary about connecting the card to the motherboard with the 5-pin cable if not suitable.
