Thinking of getting shop manager....

Thinking of getting Shop manager but have a couple of questions,

1) Whats the idea of the workshop screen? I understand what it shows you but you cant seem to click on or edit the jobs.
2) The SMS feature sounds good. How does it work? Will i need to sign up to an online SMS provider?
3) Can i reminder be set for onsite jobs?
4) I see there is an option to show unpaid invoices on the dashboard, but how set an invoice as unpaid?
5) Can the invoices, etc be redesigned?

Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,

Thinking of getting Shop manager but have a couple of questions,

1) Whats the idea of the workshop screen? I understand what it shows you but you cant seem to click on or edit the jobs.
It's designed to be displayed in the workshop, to give an at-a-glance overview of the current jobs in progress, the job details, and passwords.
2) The SMS feature sounds good. How does it work? Will i need to sign up to an online SMS provider?
You will need an account with SMS Global or Clickatell to use the integrated SMS functions.
3) Can i reminder be set for onsite jobs?
Not currently - the on-site calendar system is being upgraded for v3.2.
4) I see there is an option to show unpaid invoices on the dashboard, but how set an invoice as unpaid?
They work the other way around - any invoice not marked as paid is considered unpaid.
5) Can the invoices, etc be redesigned?

Thanks Chris
Absolutely - they're simple HTML templates, so they can be customised to your heart's content.

50% off monthly or ?

I've just processed your order. If you have any issues, raise a support ticket and I'll get back to you in the morning (>12am my time now).

just seeing what the discount is? Is it 50% off the monthly rate for life or ?

integrate with website

can you integrate shopmanager with your own website so customers can see their status of their repairs(ie. if they drop off their laptop or more?)

You can - we have developed CustomerConsole for that. When you create a customer, you can check the 'PW' boxes to have a password sent to them, which they can use to login to your website.

Currently, CC is only compatible with v3.1.2 - we're working on an update to make it compatible with v3.1.3 at the moment. Because of this, the CC Demo is currently offline.

Robert, with the next release focusing in on service agreements, are there any plans for an integrated ticketing system through CustomerCentral?

It's something I did consider briefly in the past. The reason I discounted it before was the same reason I haven't built any serious accounting functions - those sort of applications really need to be done perfect top-to-bottom (and not half-arsed!).

What I have considered is a login-share, or some type of bridged integration with an existing ticketing system.

Of course, if there is enough demand for a fully integrated ticketing system, then I would certainly consider building one.

The less programs I have to use the better for me, and you since you provide the service ;) ($$$)

I agree though it would have to be something that shouldn't be rushed, but the more functionality it has the better. Though when adding new features I would like a way to disable some via the admin panel to reduce clutter of unused features, just an idea. I haven't implemented shop manager fully in the working environment since my business hasn't gone live yet but shop manager looks solid. Good Job so far though I am excited for future releases and will be supporting you along the way.

Ive noticed that the customer console demo is now live. How is the password generated? Can it bee seen without sending by email or sms?

Thanks

The password can only be generated by sending it to the customer by email or Sms (for security purposes the passwords are never visible to staff). As such, there is only the one customer available for the demo.

Thanks for the prompt answer,

Is there a way of importing our current database? We can produce a CSV file of our existing customers & products, etc

A custom import script can be made from your existing CSV for customers, but not products. We even do this for free with new licenses =)

Almost made my mind up to get shop manager, I have seen that the next release will have service contracts added, Could you give some idea of how this will work. We have just started offering contract and will have a need for invoicies to be auto generated each month

Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,

The service contract section hasn't been developed yet, so I'm not 100% on the finer details.

Recurring invoices will certainly be included though (with varying recurring times - weekly, monthly, yearly, etc).

If you have any specific function requirements, please let me know and I'll see what can be included.

:)

Just about ready to swop to shop manager.
I assume you can have multiple users logged into the system at any one time?
Is there any instructions on how to import existing customers details?
Any idea when the next release with recurring invoices, etc be ready?

Will be puchasing the next coiuple of days

Thanks Chris

Absolutely. No limits on the number of staff in the system, nor the number of simultaneous staff or clients logged in.

Not currently. Feel free to open a presales ticket and attach a sample of your data file, I can let you know what would be involved. If you'd prefer, I can organise a complete import script for you after purchasing (in 99% of cases - depending on the data structure).

They have unfortunately been pushed back to the v4.1 release, currently slated for Q3 2012. That's subject to change of course, and could well be brought forward, based on demand. (Reference: Roadmap)

Looking forward to having you on board! :)
