There's an App for that (rant)

Malware is still heavy out there, and busy getting past "not being a virus"... but it may as well be. Now days I get a lot of "Social Engineering" Malware and websites that scared someone into calling the number and installing Remote Support Software - and ultimately getting scammed.

I have, relatively speaking, too. But there is, as yet, no known cure for FUD and social engineering where the unsuspecting and unable to "take a breath" open the door and invite in the damage. It literally requires that they do this. Nothing is "sneaking on" in any meaningful sense. A wolf is at the door and they open it and invite them in.

I've always said that the flip side of, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is," is equally true, "If it seems to terrible to be true, it probably isn't." Most of the FUD class of social engineering presents a "too terrible to be true" that definitely isn't, unless you fall for the bait.
