I block very few members, because you never know what you'll see and even things I don't agree with can be entertaining, but tonight......

How is that helpful. The spammers post still show up as new posts. You just can't view them. Makes the site new post function totally worthless until the SOB is banned.

Does the forum have the ability to just have a "janitor"? Someone who isn't a mod, but can flag a post and it immediately be taken off the front page and put in the back room until a mod handles it from that point?

A couple of people in various time zones working as janitors could lighten the load from the mods and help keep the place clean.

I'm afraid there isn't that function available Sag. Least not on this version of the forum software.

There are other ways of which the intro section can be monitored. I.e a email is sent to 'x' before a new member is allowed to join, or rather is allowed access to the forum. However this would entail a lot of work for whom ever that person may be.

I know for sure, I certainly don't have the time to keep checking that email account, with the number of new members who join on a daily basis.

It was just unavoidable, that this particular spammer spammed the forum at that time of night, when no mods were available. As soon as I got up this morning, I checked the forum, as I usually do, and then saw the number of spam posts.. So quickly went into action to start the ban hammer.

It is the very rare time, when this happens, as usually the spam filter (robot) catches a great deal, and saves us heaps of time.
