I was wondering if anyone knew of a program or method for checking the integrity and transfer rates on a NIC?
I have a lot of clients in areas that use satellite internet and we get a lot of lightning storms this time of year. When they bring their computers in they seem to work fine on the in shop dsl but when they get home it's still not working correctly and I usually end up replacing the NIC when they bring it back and the issue is resolved. I've been told by the companies that provide their service that their equipment is more sensitive and so sometimes network cards need to be replaced even though they would work on cable/dsl connection(i.e. in shop) because the integrity of the data transmission isn't solid , not sure how true this is.
Anyway, any help or insight would be appreciated. I hate not having a way to reliably test a component and having to cross my fingers. I also hate replacing equipment, no matter how cheap, for customers when they don't necessarily need it.
