Hi Guys.

I help out for my local charity who aid older people in our area

OPAL : Older People in the Locality.
http://www.opal-project.org.uk/

They are fundraising to get a disused pub and convert it into a community centre.

They perform a magnificent job, a valuable service, and I think they are brill.

Can you please vote for them via the link ?

Cheers

Aviva Community Fund – we urgently need your votes to help us secure £10,000 for Bedford Arms. Voting is between 1st May and 31st May 2015

and vote for OPAL. If we can secure enough votes then we could be entered into the Finals, where a judging panel will award the funds.

Thanks again.

I've witnessed first hand the help these guys give out, and I've been a recipient myself asking for help and advise.

Some of these older people are effectively house locked and never see another soul day-in. Day-out.

OPAL supplies befriending, trips and activities, plus advice for those suffering bereavement or problems with numerous mental and physical ailments.

They are due to be moved out of their offices in a few months, so we're looking for another location.... Which they have found.

They are one of my older clients, but I always supply service well above what I charge. They have been known to force money on me.

Anyway.
Thanks again.

More votes the merrier !

Another 10 for you. My sister and family live in Leeds (Farsley) but it will be quite a few years before they can benefit from this charity.

Looks like a great cause!

Thanks for the help guys.

Opal is 500 votes behind, and the today is the last day, so any help appreciated.

Thanks for the help guys.

OPAL was up against some "heavy hitters" going for the award, but they feel they may be in for a shot for at least some funding.

They also received some great news, which I'm posting verbatim below.

------
"Hi All, OPAL was nominated for the "Queens Award for Voluntary Service" and was successful; it’s the highest award that can be bestowed on a Charity and ranks alongside an MBE in the order of precedence. We are only now able to let everybody know of the award.
Ailsa and I went to the Queens Garden Party at Buckingham Palace last Thursday. It was a lovely day especially as it is in acknowledgement of how hard all our volunteers work to support our members and older people in the community."

I don't mind telling you I'm basking in reflected glory. Way 2 go guys.
